Oh Netie Pot....
First of all a little bit about my allergies. I HATE them, with a passion. They say at the doctors office "You just have seasonal allergies." They lie. I have allergies all year round, indoor and outdoor. So I am constantly searching for things to help my poor nose.
This is natural, and it worked for me. Granted I've only used it once, but I think that I might be hooked.
You fill it with warm water and non-iodized salt (about 1/4 teaspoon) tilt you head to the side, stick the spout in your nostril and pour.
It took me a couple of seconds to tilt my head just right so that the water would drain into my other nostril instead of down my throat. But once I got it right and then switched to do the other nostril and did an exhale through my nose.....MAGIC! I usually have a hard time breathing through my nose at night. (Most of the time only 1 nostril at a time will work.) Last night I had no problem. I will be using this again.
So, on with my healthier me life-style. I'm only drinking soda on the weekends, trying to be more active (although not succeeding all of the time), and doing natural remedies where possible (hence, the netie pot). I've already lost 6 pounds, which brings me down to 150 and a BMI of 24.2. It's in the higher range of the "normal weight" zone, but I want it lower. I have just 15 more pounds to go!
So, for those of you out there trying to be healthier; You can do it! So, until next time, God bless.

Truethful Tuesday....
They say the scales don't lie. Sometimes I have to wonder though.....
Today was weigh in day at my Weight Watchers meeting (you actually weigh in at every meeting). I tried a new tactic this week. I kept track of all of my points. I wrote everything that went into my mouth down in my food journal. "If you bite it, write it" as they say. So that's exactly what I did.
I got my Subway kids meal before I went into the meeting. The meeting is on my lunch break and there's a Subway right next door. I swear, it's like they planned it that way or something. So, I walk in with my meal in my little turtle bag (LOVE it by the way) set the bag down, grab my stuff and the step on the scale.
I'm clamping my eyes shut so that I can't see what she writes on the paper. I hear the pen tap the paper then nothing. What?! No, "Good job," no, "Maybe next week". Finally I can stand it any longer. "How'd I do?" Well, I'll tell you how I did...I lost 2.4 pounds is how I did! I'm proud of me. Who knew that following the plan would actually work?! (I did, but that's besides the point).
Now I have to go home and brag to my husband. So until next time, God bless.

What the HECK?!
I am a Christian woman. I believe in being able to practice my faith without fear of persecution. I also believe that if I find something offensive that I shouldn't have to do it. That's why I am proud of this young woman and what she did.
This makes me glad that I live where I do. A lot of places in the world she wouldn't have had the chance to stand up for her beliefs...or in some places even go to school. Good for her. Sorry, I'll get off of my soap box now. Until next time, God bless.

Easter Weekend...
We went to Dynamo Gym. Claire had a blast by the way. we walked around the zoo and saw most of the animals, even went to see the new Children's Zoo. Claire loved looking at all of the animals and so did this momma.
It was so funny. When we were looking at the giraffes and there was a blue neck ostrich in there. The ostrich is walking the fence, stops in front of Claire and I and starts pecking at the fence. It spooked me. I kept on flashing back to 6th grade, Rose Hill School. It was pioneer day and we were all dressed up and made a special trip to an old time one room school house to experience what it would have been like back then. Well, at recess there was an ostrich that was kept in a fence behind the school. The boys were teasing it and it would run and chest-butt the fence. It just gave me the creeps for some reason.
Anyways, after that we went shopping and then home. We got some super cute shoes for Claire. Oh, and she picked up on the work "cute". Everything we handed her it was "Oh, cute" in her little girl voice. Very, very, well,...cute.
This morning we went to church, out to eat and found out that Claire didn't like the Easter Bunny. She was SCARED. After we got home it was nap time for this household. After nap time Claire and I decided to go into the town square and snap some photos. She got her first skinned knee. She was so brave, it didn't even bother her. It didn't bother her until we got home and momma tried to clean it, then we had a fit. Oh well, all's well that ends well. Until next time, God bless.
