Happy Memorial Day!

I haven't blogged in a week. It's been a little crazy. I didn't plan on blogging today but since I'm home because there were bad thunder storms last night I took Claire home and now she's taking a nap. So I decided to write a quick one.
We've been at the lake. Turns out the camp site next to us has 2 marines in it. They were really nice guys and my husband being the social person that he is, we've made friends.
It's been a good weekend. Please remember to pay tribute to the men and women of our armed forces.

I found this poem here and thought that it fit.

As we stand here looking
At the flags upon these graves
Know these flags represent
A few of the true American brave

They fought for their Country
As man has through all of time
Except that these soldiers lying here
Fought for your country and mine

As we all are gathered here
To pay them our respect
Let's pass this word to others
It's what they would expect

I'm sure that they would do it
If it were me or you
To show we did not die in vein
But for the red, white and blue.

Let's pass on to our children
And to those who never knew
What these soldiers died for
It's the least we can do

Let's not forget their families
Great pain they had to bear
Losing a son, father or husband
They need to know we still care

No matter which war was fought
On the day that they died
I stand here looking at these flags
Filled with American pride.

So as the bugler plays out Taps
With its sweet and eerie sound
Pray for these soldiers lying here
In this sacred, hallowed ground.

Take home with you a sense of pride
You were here Memorial Day.
Celebrating the way Americans should
On this solemnest of days.

Monday Madness...

All right. Another Monday come and almost gone. But not before I watch the Bachlorette. I wasn't for sure how I felt about the choice of the bachelorette. I can tell you one thing though. There are some CRAZY dudes on there. Some of them I think deserve more camera time. Hopefully the ones chosen keep it interesting.
I was so ready to sit down and relax tonight. Claire is hitting her terrible two's early. She wouldn't eat tonight, and she was so fussy. One minutes she was just all giggles, the next it was the end of the world. I hope that tonight was just her being moody and that she's not getting sick or something like that. She was ready for bed tonight, that's for sure. She usually plays peek-a-boo while I'm turning off her CD player and putting away the books that I read to her before bed. Didn't do anything like that tonight. Usually I'm telling her to lay back down as I'm shutting the door.
Maybe I need to take a cue from my daughter and call it an early night. You know, I think that that's exactly what I'll do. Do until next time, God bless.

Sunday Blessings...

I wasn't going to blog today but then Claire and I have had such a good day that I thought that I would count a few of my blessings.
1.) I'm married to my soul-mate and best friend.
2.) I get to be Claire's mommy. There are so many women out there that would love to be mothers, but can't. AND I get to be a mother to the sweetest, funniest, cutest little girl ever. I may be biased, but I don't care.
3.) I have a nice home to live in.
4.) I have a job. I may not love my job all of the time, but it helps pay the bills.
5.) I have amazing friends.
Well, that's just the tip of the ice berg. I have to get some laundry folded tonight so that I have clothes for tomorrow. So, until next time, God bless.

Freaky Friday...

Okay, I'll admit it. I may look like a pretty normal person on the outside, but on the inside.....not so much. I LOVE vampire. werewolf, supernatural things.
I don't believe any of it really exists (unlike some people). I liked to be spooked. Especially when those stories have a love story intertwined in there somewhere. I guess that would just make me a romantic?
So, I've been wanting to see this movie for awhile. I saw that it was on Starz and decided to set my DVR. I'm glad that I did. It was very entertaining, bloody, and good.
So, on another subject tomorrow Christopher, Claire and I are going to Bass Pro Shop sometime tomorrow. Why? I don't know. But that's all right. I'm just glad it's the weekend, too bad it's not a long weekend though. Oh well, I'll just have to count my blessings.
Until next time, God bless.

TV Tuesdays

Okay, another crazy day at work. Let me tell you that I was SO HAPPY to get home. We had shrimp stir fry with the cake that I baked last night for dessert. I had such a good time with my family tonight. After I got the kiddo off to bed and the husband off to work I turned on the TV.
Hello, my name is Misty, I'm a grown woman and I love the new 90210. Okay, I've admitted it. I like the drama of a teenage soap opera.
Watching the show got me to thinking something....Does the drama that we watch somehow seep into our lives? You know when you watch a "feel-good" movie and it leaves you smiling? Why can't the same be true of something drama-filled? Does it cause unnecessary stress in our lives? Just something that I was wondering. So, until next time, God bless.

Manic Monday...

I smell strawberry cake. Okay, this isn't mine, but I baked one and it looks an awfully lot like mine. I guess I was feeling rather Betty Crocker-ish tonight.
Today Monday won. I got to work on time, but locked myself out of my computer. When I called tech support to have my password reset (cause I didn't think that I knew it) I was told that I have to have my employee ID, which I have to be able to get to through my log in.
Well, there were some good things that happened today. I got to spend time with Claire, and she was in an AWESOME mood. She was dancing and singing, and hugging and kissing. And She ate really well tonight.
It's pretty sad that it's only Monday and I already wish that it was Friday. It feels like I could have fit at least four days in to today. Oh well, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger I guess. Until next time, God bless.

Psycho Saturday....

Despite the name of the post, today was not that psycho. Don't get me wrong, it had it's moments, but overall a good day. A day that was both lazy, crazy, and everything in between.
Claire and I got to sleep in for a little bit while Christopher went out of town to work on the boat. It was so nice just having a lazy day with my baby. Until Later in the afternoon. We had to head out of town...that's when the psycho took over.
We went to the car dealership because we're thinking about trading the car. From there we Claire and I went to the mall and I got a few things from JCPenney, then we went walking around the mall. Walking, and walking and walking.
Word of advice, if you ever think about going shopping to where you have to actually go into dressing rooms and try on clothes, with a toddler, alone....DON"T. I spent the whole time chasing her, telling her "No, Stop, Put that down, Shh!, Stop Screaming". One thing that I am grateful for; the dressing rooms had full length doors, so no crawling under.
After that I went to my mother-in-laws and then to my husbands' cousins' graduation. She graduated tonight from the same high school that my husband and I graduated from. I've known this kid since she was 8 or 9 years old. Now I feel old. Oh well, to be able to age is a blessing.
Tonight was pretty awesome though. It was like a mini-reunion. There were so many familiar faces. And we've all got kids, and are adults now. When did that happen?!
Okay, I'm tired. Good night all, and until next time, God bless.

Funky Friday...

Today is Friday (for another half hour or so anyways). Thank God! After a long week, full of small little tasks, house cleaning, dirty laundry, cooking, etc. I am ready for the weekend. I am ready to do nothing. Just sleep, and lounge.
Well, not this weekend. We have to go out of town for a graduation. So, out of town we'll go. We'll get there (way too early) Christopher will go to the shop and work, and I'll go, go, go, do something. Then I'll end up up rushing around and come screeching into the parking lot of our old high school.
Oh well, maybe I can relax Sunday. That's a BIG maybe. I am in some serious need of down time. The only thing is, I feel guilty when I'm not doing something for my family. It may not be something that needs to be done at that moment, and usually it can wait....How do I get over that? That guilt? I do this (blog) for me, but I usually do it in between tasks, and when everyone is out and I'm too tired physically to do anything else.
Oh well, I guess that being a mommy and a wife (and more) is a learning process.....and this mommy and wife is still under construction. So, until next time, God bless.

Thankful Thursday...

So I know that I don't blog every day, and even when I do blog it's not on set days. But I do want to try to do "Thankful Thursdays". So here we go, "Thankful Thursday"....
I am thankful for my family, my baby girl, my husband. They make my life worth while. Today I came home and I was unloading the car going in and out of the house. My little girl runs out screaming "Momma! Momma! Momma!" She makes me smile. I truly felt loved.
My husband is another person that I am so thankful for. He is my best friend. I can be silly around him and he joins right in. I can be dressed in sweats with no makeup and an old t-shirt, and he tells me I'm beautiful.
I'm thankful for the house that I live in. It may not be the biggest, or the neatest, but it's a home. It's my haven away from the outside world. When I have a bad day at work, or we go out and it's been a long day, I'm always grateful to step through my front door.
There are many other things that I'm thankful for, both big and small. In my opinion more people need to concentrate and be thankful for what they have instead of focusing on what they don't have. I have challenged myself to try to find the bright side and blessings in every situation. So, until next time, God bless.

Way Back Wednesday....

It's Wednesday....we're almost there. Ladies and gentlemen please fasten you seat belts, and in case of emergency the exit is Friday, leading into Saturday
. I'd like to thank you for choosing weekly redundancy, we know it's been a long, bumpy ride. We're only half way there. It's only downhill from here though.
Alright, now that I got that out of my system; back on topic. Today I was at work, and trust me, it's been a hellish week. Anyways there I was waiting on customer after customer after customer when there was a customer that brought candy with him. He was placing an order, and he starts eating "Zots"....ZOTS.....I haven't thought about those things in YEARS!
"Where did you get those?" Apparently there is this gas TEXAS that sells them. Texas for crying out loud. A whole other state. Well, my sister is supposed to be getting married next month and she lives in Texas. We may have to check the place out.
That little experience of mine brought me back to summer when I was about 12 and my sister and I used to go to the park with my dad and on the way we would stop and get candy. I always got 2 of a few thongs; zots, poprocks, or this gum that had coca-cola in the middle of it...oh! and warheads!
So, for those of you out there in blogger land, what's something that brings you back? Until next time, God bless.

Happy Mother's Day!

What is a mother? a Mother is many, many things. If you look closely you can sometimes spot a mother. Her hair isn't always in style or even fixed. Sometimes she'll have stains from her childrens small hands on her clothes. A mother is the one that when there's only 0ne piece left announces that she's not hungry.
I can honestly say that most of the time I fit those descriptions. But you know what, for all of the hard work that comes with being a mother, it is more than worth it. Happy Mother's Day to all of you Momma's out there!
Until next time, God bless.

Mother's Day Weekend

So, this weekend has been the BEST Mother's Day weekend I've ever had! I got a ring, a new swim suit and we got this new bed with 2 matching night stands!
Yesterday was a crazy day. I work in a college town and it's the end of the semester so all or the students were coming in to my office. CRAZY!
After I got off of work Christopher and I went into the city, we bought this bed, shopped and then went out to eat. It was so much fun getting to spend time with Claire and my husband. I am truly blessed. I even got to sleep in late today! I have even MORE furniture to dust. Oh well, you know what they say. A mother's work is never done.
Happy Mother's Day to all the momma's out there. Until next time, God bless.

I want! I want! I want!

All right, mother's day is right around the corner. I LOVE mother's day! I've only been a mother for almost 2 years now, but I couldn't imagine not being a mother now. There's nothing else like it.
I have decided that I want something that says "mom" on it this year. Or represents motherhood. So, I have decided on this. I'm hoping and wishing, and praying, that I get it. I LOVE IT! JCPenny has such good deals!
Okay, this weekend my husband and I are supposed to go to Oklahoma City and hopefully getting a new bed! This place is selling a bed with storage, a headboard and two night stands thrown in. We have a tiny house and hardly any closet space, but lots of clothes. I have a hard time throwing some things out. I go from one extreme to another. I'll get on these cleaning sprees and either start throwing everything away, and then I can also get very sentimental and want to keep everything. Oh well. I just hope that I'm not the only one that goes through things like that.
Until next time, God bless.
