Oh Netie Pot....

How I love you so. Okay, I tried it. I went to a local health food store and purchased one of these things. I had seen it on The Price of Beauty and thought, "I should get one of those.". So that's just what I did.
First of all a little bit about my allergies. I HATE them, with a passion. They say at the doctors office "You just have seasonal allergies." They lie. I have allergies all year round, indoor and outdoor. So I am constantly searching for things to help my poor nose.
This is natural, and it worked for me. Granted I've only used it once, but I think that I might be hooked.
You fill it with warm water and non-iodized salt (about 1/4 teaspoon) tilt you head to the side, stick the spout in your nostril and pour.
It took me a couple of seconds to tilt my head just right so that the water would drain into my other nostril instead of down my throat. But once I got it right and then switched to do the other nostril and did an exhale through my nose.....MAGIC! I usually have a hard time breathing through my nose at night. (Most of the time only 1 nostril at a time will work.) Last night I had no problem. I will be using this again.
So, on with my healthier me life-style. I'm only drinking soda on the weekends, trying to be more active (although not succeeding all of the time), and doing natural remedies where possible (hence, the netie pot). I've already lost 6 pounds, which brings me down to 150 and a BMI of 24.2. It's in the higher range of the "normal weight" zone, but I want it lower. I have just 15 more pounds to go!
So, for those of you out there trying to be healthier; You can do it! So, until next time, God bless.

Truethful Tuesday....

They say the scales don't lie. Sometimes I have to wonder though.....

Today was weigh in day at my Weight Watchers meeting (you actually weigh in at every meeting). I tried a new tactic this week. I kept track of all of my points. I wrote everything that went into my mouth down in my food journal. "If you bite it, write it" as they say. So that's exactly what I did.

I got my Subway kids meal before I went into the meeting. The meeting is on my lunch break and there's a Subway right next door. I swear, it's like they planned it that way or something. So, I walk in with my meal in my little turtle bag (LOVE it by the way) set the bag down, grab my stuff and the step on the scale.

I'm clamping my eyes shut so that I can't see what she writes on the paper. I hear the pen tap the paper then nothing. What?! No, "Good job," no, "Maybe next week". Finally I can stand it any longer. "How'd I do?" Well, I'll tell you how I did...I lost 2.4 pounds is how I did! I'm proud of me. Who knew that following the plan would actually work?! (I did, but that's besides the point).

Now I have to go home and brag to my husband. So until next time, God bless.

Monday Blessings....

All right....Bring on the Monday....ooopppsss....I take it back, wait, no...too late.
That's the attitude that I had today, and guess what, I got my wish. Monday hit me like a mac truck today.
Positive thinking, positive thinking, here it goes:
Claire woke up in a good mood. She let me brush her teeth without me having to fight her. She's AWESOME doing it before bed, but waking up, not so much.
My coffee was ready for me when I woke up. I LOVE my new coffee maker that has a timer. Seriously, how did I ever manage without one?! I must have been crazy.
Today is my wonderful, awesome, amazing, sexy, sweet, husbands' birthday. (Did I put enough adjectives in there for you?!) So HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRISTOPHER! I LOVE YOU! Seriously, he's a great husband (and my best friend).
People coming in and paying their bills today, or making arrangements also reminds me to be thankful that I have a job. There are so many out there that are struggling, and while we are pinching pennies at least we are both employed...AND my husbands work hours have picked up.
Most of all I am thankful for my faith. It's hard to have faith in the world that we live in today. To be able to say, honestly say, that I KNOW everything will be all right because God has a plan for me is awesome. He's given me my beautiful family (which I could not do without) and everything else in my life. God is good.
So, how are you all out there in cyber-world blessed? It's so easy to concentrate on the negative, and I've decided to try my hardest to have a positive outlook. So, until next time, God bless.

Until next time, God bless.

Summer Projects...

Okay, as if I wasn't busy enough I decided to make a list of things that I want to do this summer.

1. Go to the Zoo

2. Go to the Science museum

3. Go to the Art Museum

4. Go to the park more often

5. Take Claire swimming at the pool

6. Go to the Pioneer Museum

7. Go to the lake

8. Go camping

9. Go to the historic downtown part of a town, any town

10. Make a play date with friends.

11. Go Scuba Diving

12. Steam-clean the carpets

13. Detail the boat and all vehicles

14. Make hair-bows for Claire

15. Make another tutu for Claire

I am a planning type of person and have decided that I want my daughter to be cultured. Some of those I will have no problem doing. My husband owns a jet boat and LOVES the lake (he's what some may to refer to as a "lake-rat") so we usually camp. For other activities there's going to be more of a challenge, and not all of them are fun. I'm up for it though.

Until next time, God bless.

What the HECK?!

I am a Christian woman. I believe in being able to practice my faith without fear of persecution. I also believe that if I find something offensive that I shouldn't have to do it. That's why I am proud of this young woman and what she did.
This makes me glad that I live where I do. A lot of places in the world she wouldn't have had the chance to stand up for her beliefs...or in some places even go to school. Good for her. Sorry, I'll get off of my soap box now. Until next time, God bless.

Sick babies are not fun....=(

I haven't posted in a few days. My dear daughter is sick. She's only 19 months old and when she doesn't feel well I feel helpless. She woke up Tuesday with a fever and just was not herself. So, my wonderful husband stayed home and watched her, and he did this after working a 10 hour shift.

When I got home I changed out of my work clothes, loaded Claire up and took her to the next town to the walk in clinic. The took blood from her finger, did a strep test and a flu test. She just has a virus, there's nothing that they can give her, blah, blah, blah.

So, we went to Wal-Mart to get her some Motrin and Tylenol, and Triamedic. Poor sweet-heart. Yesterday when I got home, no fever! I did my happy dance and Claire joined me. Unfortunately we were too early in our celebration. She now has a fever of 102.

So I'm praying for a quick recovery. Until next time, God bless.

Easter Weekend...

This weekend has been so awesome! I realize that I am truly blessed to have the family that I have been given. Now if only I didn't have to go to work tomorrow. I have to count my blessings though. At least I have a job that I get paid to do. A lot of people can't say that.
We went to Dynamo Gym. Claire had a blast by the way. we walked around the zoo and saw most of the animals, even went to see the new Children's Zoo. Claire loved looking at all of the animals and so did this momma.
It was so funny. When we were looking at the giraffes and there was a blue neck ostrich in there. The ostrich is walking the fence, stops in front of Claire and I and starts pecking at the fence. It spooked me. I kept on flashing back to 6th grade, Rose Hill School. It was pioneer day and we were all dressed up and made a special trip to an old time one room school house to experience what it would have been like back then. Well, at recess there was an ostrich that was kept in a fence behind the school. The boys were teasing it and it would run and chest-butt the fence. It just gave me the creeps for some reason.
Anyways, after that we went shopping and then home. We got some super cute shoes for Claire. Oh, and she picked up on the work "cute". Everything we handed her it was "Oh, cute" in her little girl voice. Very, very, well,...cute.
This morning we went to church, out to eat and found out that Claire didn't like the Easter Bunny. She was SCARED. After we got home it was nap time for this household. After nap time Claire and I decided to go into the town square and snap some photos. She got her first skinned knee. She was so brave, it didn't even bother her. It didn't bother her until we got home and momma tried to clean it, then we had a fit. Oh well, all's well that ends well. Until next time, God bless.Add Image
